Today more than ever we depend on access to the internet in our day-to-day lives. Whether we are running a business, working from a home office, or even traveling in our car we expect the internet to be available all the time. Modern high-speed communications depend on the fiber optic infrastructure. If there is a failure, we need to diagnose it rapidly and repair it efficiently. There are a variety of tools that we can use, from simple Visual Fault Locators and inspection microscopes to sophisticated OTDR. Knowing which tool is right for your situation and knowing how to use it are essential to getting service back up and running.

This session, presented by Jim Davis (Fluke Networks) and Sean Kelly (Light Brigade) will help contractors, network owners, IT departments and end users to understand what tools are most appropriate to identify and resolve different problems as well as guidance on how to use them and the limitations of each. This session will look at situations for both the inside and outside plant fiber. Attendees will earn one BICSI CEC.
