The Ethernet Alliance is a global, non-profit industry consortium that acts as the “voice of Ethernet”. The organization’s mission is to ensure the continued growth and adoption of Ethernet technologies by serving as a bridge between technical standards and end-users. Membership represents a wide range of experts, including system and component vendors and other industry professionals. Ethernet Alliance activities include everything from driving new technologies to organizing multi-vendor interoperability tests and creating educational resources.

Since 2015, the Ethernet Alliance Ethernet Roadmap has served as the industry’s only publicly available guide to the networking technology’s ongoing evolution. This illustrated document provides a clear, comprehensive overview of the Ethernet ecosystem to help industry leaders, engineers, and enthusiasts stay informed about the latest advancements. The roadmap’s purpose is to highlight key speeds, interfaces, and optical technologies that are shaping Ethernet’s future.

By providing this high-level overview, the roadmap helps to demystify complex technologies and ensure that the entire industry is aligned on the path forward. The 10th‑anniversary edition of the roadmap celebrates this role and looks ahead to a future where Ethernet will continue to provide the reliable, “it just works” connectivity that the world depends on.
