Serving for his ninth consecutive term as Consortium Chair is Rodney Casteel, CommScope; Vice Chair is Lee Kellett, AFL/Light Brigade; Co-standards Chairs are Cindy Montstream, Legrand and Adrian Young, Fluke Networks; Membership Chair is Robert Reid, Panduit; and Communications Chair is Dede Starnes, Corning.

Web seminar explains WBMMF, the next generation of multimode fiber

On Thursday, August 20, the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) Fiber Optics Technology Consortium (FOTC) will host a 75-minute web seminar discussing wideband multimode fiber—WBMMF—which it characterizes as the next generation of multimode. Airing live beginning at 11:00am EDT, the seminar will be delivered by Paul Kolesar, engineering fellow with CommScope, who chairs the TIA’s TR-42.11 Committee, which is developing the performance specifications for WBMMF.

TIA officially begins work on physical network security standard

At its meeting held in early June, the Telecommunications Industry Association’s TR-42 Engineering Committee approved a project that ultimately will result in the publication of ANSI/TIA-5017, which is initially being titled “Telecommunications Physical Network Security Standard.”

At the recent FTTH Conference, held in Ft. Lauderdale, OFS introduced three new products to its FOX Solution line of deployable fiber-optic network cabling and components for homes or businesses.

Firstly, OFS announced the FDH64, a new 64-fiber distribution hub for the fast growing multiple dwelling unit (MDU) market.
